4 Apps For Managing Perfectionism + Fostering Creativity

Perfectionism and creativity often go hand-in-hand (ahem, hello imposter syndrome). Chances are if you’re a creative person, you also struggle with perfectionism on a regular basis. It just seems to come with the territory. But guess what? There’s an app for that! Because, of course there is. These four apps are great to have in your rotation so you can tackle whatever challenges your creative process throws at you; from creative blocks to brainstorming new ideas.

Download these four apps to help get a handle on perfectionism and foster creativity:

Evernote

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t use Evernote. It really is the best app I’ve found that helps me organize my thoughts, keep track of new ideas, backlog creative projects and more. Plus, it syncs across all your devices so you’re never without it at your fingertips. You can also invite collaborators to your notebooks and notes so you can keep your creative brainstorming organized and in one place.

Brainsparker

Brainsparker is a free app that provides daily exercises to stretch your creative muscles. The app contains 200 cards featuring thought-provoking words and phrases; you simply shake your device to shuffle the pack and produce a new card. The rest, of course, is up to you. Sometimes you need a bit of randomness to generate the right creative ideas, and Brainsparker is great for getting your creative juices flowing without letting perfectionism get in the way.

Magnet

If you have a cluttered desktop, Magnet is your new BFF. If you have a Mac, this handy app helps to declutter your screen by snapping windows into organized tiles. You can drag windows over the preset areas to automatically resize the windows, or use the customizable keyboard shortcuts. Once you start using Magnet to handle your windows management, you’ll find yourself wondering how you lived without it.

Simple Habit

No matter your creative goals—to boost self-confidence, shake off anxiety, refocus or simply be present—Simple Habit has an extensive library of meditations, all cataloged and easy to find. You’ll love how each meditation is very specifically titled, making mindfulness something you can turn to for any occasion. Because sometimes the best way to handle perfectionism is to just nip it in the damn bud.
