The Items We Always Keep In Our Fridge

We always enjoy seeing the different items people keep in their fridge, because every household is different. So this month we thought it would be fun to share with you what our tiny team keeps stocked in theirs. From California to New Jersey, here’s what Team Glitter Guide always keeps in our fridge.

fridge staples

Cholula Hot Sauce: Growing up, my dad put hot sauce on everything he ate. I found it repulsive. But now, like with most things, I’ve turned into my dad, and I like to add hot sauce to a lot of my meals.

Fennel: My family is obsessed with raw fennel; we eat it all the time. I think it stems from my dad (shocker!). My dad is a black licorice connoisseur, and growing up, I developed an affinity for it. Fennel tastes very similar to black licorice. It’s incredible in salads. My kids even love it!

Mixed Greens (arugula, mustard greens, kale, etc.): My local farmers’ market puts together these amazing mixed greens. My husband and I are overzealous with them. We throw them on eggs, sandwiches, pasta or eat them as a side salad. So good!

Green Olives: Funny story, I HATED green olives growing up. My parents liked to drink martinis, and the green olive looked so enticing to me. But every time I tried it, I gagged. Fast forward 30 years and I’m now obsessed with them. I eat a few every day.

Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk: I can’t live without my almond milk. No one else in my house drinks it, but I go through a carton in about five days. I add it to my coffee in the morning, but I also like to have small cups at night with chocolate.

Unsalted Butter: I am never without butter in the fridge. Being a ’90s kid, my family always had margarine in the fridge (which is disgusting), to rebel against that, I now slather butter all over everything.

Topo Chico: I drink this sparkling mineral water every day, it’s my absolute favorite. It also helps me stay away from soda, which is definitely a vice of mine. I throw a little fresh lime in it if I’m feeling fancy.

Eggs: I mean, I have four chickens, so we’re always stockpiling eggs. You can actually keep fresh, unwashed eggs on the counter for up to a month, but we always have a stash in the fridge, as well.

Bitchin’ Sauce: I love this vegan, almond-based dip. It’s delicious on sandwiches, with pita crackers or just a plate of crudités. The “chipotle” flavor is my personal favorite, but they’re all…bitchin’.

Mooala Banana Milk: We make a lot of smoothies at our house, and this bananamilk is my son’s favorite. We prep “smoothie bags” on Sunday so we have an easy grab-and-go frozen treat that’s always ready to go.

Spinach: We use a lot of spinach in our smoothies, so we always have a big batch in the fridge. We also use it in omelets, salads and soups throughout the week. I am vegetarian, so spinach is a big component of my cooking because it is a great source of iron.

Oui French Style Yogurt: These are my favorite treats when I need something sweet. The lemon flavor is actual heaven. Not to mention they’re just so darling!

Mrs. T’s Pierogies Classic Onion: I had no idea what pierogies even were up until a few years ago, and now they are a must-have for easy lunch and dinner meals. They are quick and easy to make so I find them especially useful on those crazy days when I don’t feel like standing over the stove for an hour.

Trader Joe’s Mediterranean Style Orzo Pasta Salad: I have to admit, I am terrible at planning meals ahead of time. Sometimes I’ll forget to prepare a veggie-packed side, that’s when this really comes in handy. It makes for a great lunch option, too. I will usually just throw in some chicken from the night before.

Trader Joe’s Carne Asada Burritos: We are a house of burrito-lovers, and these are no joke. I like to eat them with some salsa, just for an extra kick.

Trader Joe’s Onion & Chive Cream Cheese Spread: This stuff is not just great for bagels. I like to use it when making mashed potatoes, or really anything with a creamy base as well.

Unexpected Cheddar Broccoli Soup: Another lunchtime winner (can you sense a trend here?). I usually split this with my boyfriend along with some bread and we’re full until dinner time rolls around.

Jibby Cofee: I don’t always have time to sit around and wait for a cup of coffee to brew. This CBD cold brew formula is perfect for that second cup without all of the jitters that regular coffee sometimes gives me.

Strawberries: This is one fruit that everyone in my family likes to eat, so I always have fresh strawberries to add to meals and to snack on throughout the day.

Stok Cold Brew Coffee: Once the weather starts to get warmer, I transition from hot drinks to cold drinks, and Stok Cold Brew Coffee is so convenient and tastes great.

Milk: We are a milk family, so there’s always a gallon of it in the fridge to add to cereal, coffee, tea and more.

Eggs: I started making egg salad sandwiches often last year for lunch when we weren’t going to the grocery store as often and I needed to come up with foods that were easy to make and didn’t require many ingredients. Eggs are also helpful for quick breakfast-for-dinner meals for my kids when I don’t have the time or energy to make a big dinner.

Mozzarella Balls: These are my favorite to snack on, add to pasta dishes, and combined with tomatoes to make a Caprese salad.

Halos: We always have a stash of Halos in the fridge because it is a healthy snack that my kids enjoy. Plus, it makes me happy to know they are getting some vitamin C, which has been more important than ever this past year.
