What Is A Nap Dress + Why Is It The Only Thing We Want To Wear Right Now?

What is a “nap dress,” you may be wondering? We all know that loungewear had quite a moment during 2020, but a nap dress really takes it to the next level. It’s meant to be something you can sleep in, and something you can wear to a picnic. It’s the Ophelia-inspired garment for day-to-night. A nap dress reminds me of something a young heroine of a Frances Hodgson Burnett novel might pull out of a steamer trunk. They’re superfluous, completely “extra” and yet highly desirable. Maybe it’s the current obsession with cottagecore, or perhaps it’s just our desire to spruce up all this time spent at home, but either way, we’re onboard with the allure of the ethereal “nap dress.”
