My idea of heaven is a flower farm. In my dream life, I own and live on a giant dahlia farm full of different colors and varieties. I tried to convince my husband that for our honeymoon, we needed to go to Alaska to the peony farms, but no dice. Thankfully, I can live vicariously through the real flower farmers on Instagram. Here are some of the flower farms I dream of visiting some day. See you in the flower fields!
Carolina Flowers
Where: Asheville, NC
This farm is run by husband-and-wife duo Emily and Josh Copus in the small township of Walnut. Josh is a wood-fired ceramic artist. Emily is the founder and owner of Carolina Flowers.
Rose Story Farm
Where: Carpinteria, CA
Rose Story Farm has been around since 1998 when it started with half an acre of a lemon and avocado farm. It’s family-owned and -run and now grows more than 25,000 rose bushes.
Blomma Flower Farm
Where: San Clemente, CA
Blomma Flower Farm is a family-run florist and flower farm providing local, sustainably grown, high-quality flowers. The owners, Tiffany and Mike, work from their home where they grow their flowers on their tiny farm.
The Flower Hat
Where: Bozeman, MT
Julio, the owner of The Flower Hat, is a flower farmer and florist who creates beautiful arrangements and installations for weddings and events.
Schreiner’s Iris Gardens
Where: Salem, OR
The Schreiner family has been in the iris business since 1925 and now has more than 100 acres of flowers to gaze upon. Once a year, they have a holiday weekend where they host artists to showcase their work and also spend some time in the garden painting.
Ella Rose Farm
Where: Fallbrook, CA
This boutique rose garden is located just north of San Diego and is family-owned and -operated by Nancy Teasley.
Twig & Vine Farm
Where: Conway, WA
This micro-farm is just that, micro. But in the 1/4-acre space, it grows dahlias and other floral varieties. The owner, Deanna, also offers workshops and is the founder of the Growing Kindness project.
3 Porch Farm
Where: Comer, GA
The sweetest husband-and-wife duo run this farm out in Georgia. On their solar-powered and bio-fueled farm, they produce sustainably grown flowers + fruit as well as provide for their own local CSA.
Homefield
Where: Hemmingford, Quebec
The owners, Malissa and Simon, grew up in the agricultural sector and spent years working on farms, before finally establishing their own field, “Homefield.” They believe in combining science and nature and use bio-intensive methods, which allows them to produce a lot of flowers over a minimal area, while promoting biodiversity and maintaining soil fertility.
