Bridget Ambrose is an energy medicine healer and interior stylist that makes a living by helping people understand who they are and creates spaces for people to feel balanced. She believes that people are not only in a relationship with themselves, but also the other people in their lives—and their home! That’s why she believes that it’s important to fill a house with things that mean something and have significance and help support and nourish one’s life. Bridget’s beautiful home is full of many significant items, including rocks, crystals, vintage rugs and other textiles that tell the story of her and her family’s life. Tell us about yourself! How did you come to be an energy medicine healer and an interior stylist?

We are a family of three with a sweet black lab living in a small urban town in Montana. We love the easy access to the outdoors and the strong sense of community found here. My husband is a strategy director and works globally. I am an energy medicine intuitive with a healing practice. Interior styling is really a natural extension of my work. Not only are you in a relationship with yourself, your partner, your children, your friends and so on. You are also in a relationship with your home. Every piece of furniture, every item you choose to surround yourself with is sharing a story. It tells who you are, where you’ve been and where you’re headed.

Your home has great energy. What’s the first step in your process before designing a space?

My goal was to create a home that felt like an invitation into a sanctuary where you can be (and feel) yourself. Our homes are so much more than the container we live in. They are really an opportunity to decide how you want to live. Each room has the potential to support and nourish us in different ways. As Justina Blakeney says in her latest book, “good design increases the quality of life,” and I completely agree. There is a deep connection between your heart, your home and in turn your health. I believe we are meant to feel peace in our environment, to feel connected to others and live in a state of abundance.

While design and products can accent any space, feel is something only you can create. Trust your intuition, and pay attention to what you’re drawn to so you can personally discover your own style. There is no wrong way to express your authentic self so long as it brings you joy. I begin every design with just a few key elements I love and think about how to expand that vibe into the room. And have fun experimenting (something I do a lot) to find what really resonates with your personality and the people you share your home with.

You have such unique lighting fixtures in your home! Where is your favorite place to shop for those types of pieces?

We actually incorporated some of the home’s original lighting, while also introducing modern touches. I love the fabulous selection Denise at @eclectic_goods carries as well as @cedarandmoss for beautiful and unique lighting. I also found some replicas of designer lights on eBay.

You also have a lot of amazing textiles throughout the house. Do you have anywhere, in particular, you like to find rugs and bedding?

Instagram introduced me to so many talented artists and small shop owners. Knowing the source of nearly everything in our home and supporting such wonderful small business owners has been a huge joy for me. When items are made with intention and passion, that energy is felt in your space.

Incorporating textiles has been a great way to bring a global vibe and warmth to our home and they are easy to move around from room-to-room keeping things fresh. A few of my go-tos for throws and pillows are Erin at @homegirlcollection, Jody at @indiebungalow and the folks at @rugandweave. I do love rugs not only for the floor, but to hang on a wall, over the back of a couch or across the foot of our bed. Some might say I have a slight addiction. I adore Becca at @jeanpalmerhome and Melissa at @oldnewhouse who both have an incredible eye for vintage beauties. I also recently found Natalya at @drift.home.collection who finds some fabulous Moroccan Rugs and I am forever a longtime fan of Jen at @fleamarketfab.

Tell us about your bedroom. What was your vision for that space?

This room is all about slowing down, feeling ease and getting good sleep! I wanted an airy serene vibe that was also grounding. The white bedding and curtains work well with keeping the natural light feel and the vintage rugs with their rich history give it an earthiness I love.

What pieces would you recommend everyone keep in their home to promote good energy?

Everyone should feel they are able to create a sacred space and good energy in their home. You can achieve this by having objects you love, that are reminders of your light, of spirit and lift your energy no matter how small. Crystals are a great way to do this. My go-to crystal recommendation is selenite, which has a beautiful way of cleansing and clearing the space. It’s the perfect stone to keep near your front door or any room you want to maintain a positive vibe.

Was there any space in the house that was particularly hard to decorate?

Our living room has proven to be the most challenging for me to style. It’s the first room you come into and it was important to me that it felt like an invitation to come in and relax. I was looking to create a modern feel while still embracing the rugged nature of Montana. Trying to strike that balance took some time yet the pivotal piece was really our Article leather couch. There are very few furniture stores in our area, so shopping online is our go-to method for home décor. The folks at @article have such great designs (and prices!) and they made it easy to achieve a beautiful balance—bold enough to anchor the room yet subtle enough to seamlessly blend in.

You offer a unique niche for interior styling. Can you tell us about that and how you help your clients?

I think the niche I offer is focusing more on the energy of the space and what my clients want to feel in their home and in their life. Some need quiet nooks, some need kid-friendly areas while others want space to entertain. Your home needs to work with your lifestyle. The products, fabrics, colors, textures all come together to create the feel they are aiming to achieve. By clearing out what doesn’t support it, cleaning up clutter and intentionally decorating with what you love, I help people manifest the space they need and love.

Are there any design trends you’re currently obsessed with?

Well, I’m not sure if it’s on trend, but I will always love rocks and crystals, vintage rugs and plants.

What are three things you always keep in your fridge?

Honey Mama chocolate. Almond butter. Rosé.
