Actress + Philanthropist Hope Harris’s Cozy LA Pad

Hope Harris

Born and raised in New Mexico, Hope Harris now calls LA home. The actress and host of the Hope Tea podcast, has the coolest Spanish-style house that she shares with her husband. From the classic curved ceilings and walkways to the vintage appliances, we love everything about this cozy space, and we know you are going to love it, too. Her best advice for making a house your own, sprinkle it with love all over the place. Brilliant! So, step right in and enjoy.

For those of who don’t know you yet, tell us a little bit about you!

My name is Hope Harris. Originally from Albuquerque, NM, which makes me a “buqueño.” I grew up performing (acting/dancing/singing), and working in television and film. My passion for film and performance truly began at 8 years old, when I created my ‘Irish’ alter-ego “Judy.” I studied film at Spelman College, an elite, private, historically black women’s school in Atlanta. Thus sparked my passion for women. Aside from working professionally as an artist in acting, producing and modeling, I host a podcast called Hope Tea, which also launched my signature fine tea brand. Most of all, I love and am very passionate about my family and life-long friendships.

What do you love about where you live?

I adore LA. It is a unique city, and once you find your tribe(s), it has a lot of hidden treasures. Each neighborhood has its own culture and vibe, and the food is impeccable. And the sun, you truly can’t beat the weather! Though I do miss the snow sometimes.

Tell us a little bit about your home. How did you wind up there and what do you love about it?

We fell in love with our Spanish-style home in mid-city the day that we walked into it. I appreciate the classic curved ceilings and walkways, and our vintage appliances give it a nostalgic, warm feeling! My fiancé found our home, and it is a true testament to his eye and appreciation for artistic design. It was the perfect canvas.

How do you make a house feel like a home?

Just like in fashion, I think the high-low approach is always best. It’s about finding the perfect blend of bright, modern, classic and comfy. Each space welcomes community and comfort in its own way. Above all, sprinkle love all over the place!

Any favorite spots to shop for home décor?

Merchant Modern – A delightful mother/daughter duo who have immaculate taste. Its curation of vintage and rare finds, as well as the shopping experience, is unparalleled.

Tell us about your podcast!

On the podcast, I have the pleasure of sitting in intimate conversation with women who are impacting the modern workspace. From teenagers finding success in the new age of tech and social branding to women who have paved the way. As we sip teas from around the world, we dive into their journey, the climb, the ebbs and flows, and how they sustain personally behind the curtain of branding and healthy practices. Each story is full of intimate truths, inspiration, encouragement, and hope.

What do you hope to accomplish with your art?

I hope to live up to my name, and be a vessel in evolving, uplifting and raising consciousness at large!

What are some of your favorite creative projects you’ve ever worked on?

It is very hard to choose favorite projects, as many of them have impacted my life in great ways. The larger network television shows that I worked on as a child provided me with the opportunity to learn, inquire about every detail and enabled me to see the magic behind the scenes. Being the youngest person on set for most of my life, I was blessed with a lot of valuable mentorship that I cherish to this day and will pass on throughout my career. There is also nothing like creating a passion project with eager, excited creatives and making something beautiful out of nothing. It is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world. Any opportunity to perform is the greatest gift!

Any big or exciting projects coming up that you can share with us?

I am really excited about the new season of Hope Tea that is launching this month that can be found on iTunes, GooglePlay, and Stitcher. We have a very special guest list of diverse, inspiring women, who share deeply about important topics that women are facing each day.
