4 Ways To Visually Set + Stick To Your New Year’s Intentions

Hopefully by now you’ve read a bit about why we’re talking about intentions this month and how you can implement them before the new year arrives. If you haven’t, you’ll definitely want to go back and check those out. If you already know what you’d like your intentions to be for 2020, now it’s time to start planning.

It’s one thing to say, “this is my intention for the new year.” It’s another thing to live and breathe it. One of the biggest issues with New Year’s resolutions is that they’re easily forgotten as life gets busy, usually around February. But with intentions, it’s a mindset and a lifestyle. You won’t fail with intentions like you potentially could with goals and resolutions. Because each day you consciously focus on your intention, you’re growing and moving forward. If you’re a visual person, like Team Glitter Guide tends to be, we encourage you to find some visual ways to keep your intentions at the forefront for 365 days. Here are some of our favorite ways:

Vision Board

Get old school with it. Cut out images and phrases from magazines or newspapers and create a vision board. This can be a living project that you’re constantly adding to and updating throughout the year. There’s something about the physical act of selecting the images and putting them individually on the board that makes it really stick with you day by day.

Pinterest

We’re all on Pinterest every day anyway, right? Create a Pinterest board just for your New Year’s intentions and get to pinning. Check it daily and continuously add new ideas to it. Thanks to the Pinterest algorithm and a surplus of content out there, you should never run out of new inspiration.

Visual Mantra

One of the best ways to stick to your New Year’s intentions is to create a mantra. And the best way to remember that mantra is to have it placed where you can see it regularly. Get artsy and draw or paint an artwork of your mantra to hang on your bathroom mirror. Or make a graphic in Photoshop or Canva and set it as your phone or desktop wallpaper. If you want to get really fancy, you could have a custom sticker or decal made so you can have it anywhere you visit most.

Make Flash Cards

When I was pregnant, I had a deck of flashcards that my doula gave me that were beautifully illustrated and each had a different mantra or inspirational phrase on them. I’d pull one from the deck each day and focus on that specific intention or thought. If you have multiple intentions for the new year, this is a great way to remind yourself daily of your plans.

Tattoo It On You

Just kidding!! I mean, I would do it, but that’s just me 🙃.

Happy New Year!
