A Beauty-Centric Self-Care Routine

When most people think about self-care, they imagine lengthy bubble baths and weekly manicures. Which, if you’ve been following along with our theme this month, you know isn’t the most realistic for everyday life. But for the sake of this post, we’re diving into the beauty element of a self-care routine. Because self-care is different for everyone. Just like most other things in life, finding something that works for your specific needs is key to your overall wellbeing. So if you’re a beauty buff and self-care does look like indulging in a few special treatments, this routine is for you.

A custom hair mask

Sure, you could do a regular hair mask, but why not amp it up a bit with a custom hair mask? We’ve had so many of our friends share their love of using a custom mask like this one, we’re definitely ready to make it part of our self-care routine. You can also utilize good old-fashioned organic unrefined coconut oil if you’re looking for extra deep treatment. Just slather your mid-lengths and ends in the oil and put up in a top knot for at least 20 minutes before washing. Welcome to Hydration Town.

TLC for your upper body

Face Stone Roller // Eye Mask

Self-care means slowing down and taking a minute for yourself. If you’re not using a face stone roller as part of your daily skincare routine, what are you even doing with your life? Daily facial rolling can help lift and tone the skin and relax facial muscles, as well as depuff and reduce inflammation on your face. A weighted eye mask will help you block out the world and focus on your self-care, even if just for a few minutes. Think of it as a weighted blanket but just for your eyes. Heat it up for muscle-melting tension relief or put it in the freezer for a cooling, calming treat. I love using mine after a long day of staring at the computer screen!

Clean your brushes

Cleaning your makeup and skincare brushes is total self-care and should be done at least weekly. These are my favorite brushes for skincare and makeup and washing them keeps them clean and in tip-top shape for the next use. If you’re not applying your skincare routine with specialized skincare brushes yet, you’re truly missing out on a lovely self-care routine.

Shave your legs + wash your sheets

The key here is to do it on the exact same day. C’mon, we’ve all slid into clean sheets after a warm shower and shaving our legs. It’s pure bliss. Setting a day each week to do this is self-care for the body and mind because not only do you stay on top of your sleep hygiene, but you give yourself something to look forward to. Indulging in a beautiful, easy-to-use safety razor is another way to amplify your routine. I also highly recommend using a salt or sugar scrub like this one prior to shaving your legs for the ultimate smoothness.

Create your own at-home nail salon

This is one of my favorite weekly treats. I set up my “nail salon” at the dining table, pop in my headphones and listen to a True Crime podcast while going to town on my nails. Just painting your nails is fine, but I love using a complete nail toolkit like this one from Olive & June to keep my nails happy and healthy. It comes with everything you need for the perfect at-home mani and pedi. Added bonus; you’ll save yourself a bunch of $$ after cutting back on those weekly nail salon trips.

Floral facial steam

I’ve been doing floral facial steams for the better part of a decade, and I still get excited about doing them. It’s a really easy way to infuse a weekly special treatment into your self-care routine that your skin will love. You can find a variety of floral steams online or you can make your own!
