When was the last time you worked on a side project? When was the last time you pushed yourself to try something new? As we get older, making time for things that aren’t necessarily making us money become harder to justify. However, here at Glitter Guide, we’re big believers in side projects. You don’t have to look at them as a way to start a new company or launch a new product. Your side projects are typically outside of your normal work and can have many benefits.

They Boost Creativity

They are usually new territory for you. They also come with less pressure (no budgets, timelines and schedules). This allows for you to experiment and play. You get to test new skills at your own pace.

Self-Development

In a lot of ways, side projects are helping you to expand your skills that you can take into your current career. You likely will do a lot of reading, research and experimentation with this new hobby. You will see what you excel at and what you may need to ditch. You may find that you’re really good at this new skill and that helps build confidence.

Nurtures Curiosity

We are all curious beings. Working on side projects allows us to explore those curiosities and learn.

Builds Your Résumé

If your full-time job isn’t your dream job, side projects are a great way to build new skills and enhance your résumé.

They’re Fun

Regardless of the outcome, side projects are usually a lot of fun. They allow for you to spend time doing things that you love. What other reason do you need?
