Last week, we turned 7 years old! If you’ve been following along with us for the past 7 years you may or may not know that Glitter Guide is a completely remote team. Thanks to the beauty of technology, our small but mighty team has the ability to work together from our respective ends of the country. A question we get asked a lot is “does working remote affect your company’s culture?”…and the answer is, kind of? That’s why we’re so excited to kick off a travel series that gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how our team makes it work!
Once a quarter, our founder and business manager (Taylor + Sam), get together to hammer out the details of the business face-to-face up north in Taylor’s current location of San Francisco. And, of course, we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to celebrate our birthday in person together either! That’s where our travel fun comes in! Sam is here to share all the BTS fun and give a little more insight on how Team Glitter Guide works together.
Because it is so important to us to be able to focus on the business together face to face, Taylor and I have figured out the best way to travel, and that’s with Alaska Air. Being in San Diego and Taylor in San Francisco, we’re just a quick plane ride away for a few days together. We’re both mothers, so being able to fly with an airline that’s flexible and has options is so important to us. Alaska has been my favorite airline for work travel because it always has the best flight times (so many choices!) and the in-flight service is the best I’ve experienced. I love that my travel anxiety can be reduced by knowing I’m taken care of with Alaska.
For our birthday trip, I stayed at The Inn at Union Square, my fav boutique hotel in San Francisco. Seriously, at this point the staff feels like family. It’s my new home away from home!
Plus, we got to hang out with some of our favorite people and industry friends who came to help us celebrate!

So while it might not always be the easiest working remotely, we’re definitely grateful for the ability to travel and get that much needed face-to-face time!
