Glitter Guide’s Summer 2020 Reading Challenge

This summer is going to be different. However, what’s not different is our need to read—to escape into a story. We may not be going on our usual summer vacations or spend hours lounging on the beach, but we can feel confident that books are there waiting for us to experience them. In an effort to prioritize reading during these long, hot days we’ve created a Summer Reading Challenge to hold us accountable.

Starting today through September 10th, the challenge is to read five books from our reading list: one fiction, one non-fiction, 1 anti-racist book, and 2 free-choice. And if you read eight books (one book from each section), we will donate $5 to The Loveland Foundation—an amazing organization founded by Rachel Cargle. The organization is committed to bringing opportunities and healing to Black women and communities of color.

Share what you’re reading from our challenge by tagging @GlitterGuide on Instagram and using the hashtag #GGSummerReads. If you’re not on Instagram, you can email us at info@glitterguide.com and share what you’ve read. We also recommend you join Goodreads to document what you’re reading and follow along with our book club.

You can also subscribe to our monthly book newsletter.

We highly recommend you buy your books from Black-owned bookstores, your local independent bookstore, or Bookshop.org.

Happy Reading!
