If you’ve found yourself with a little more time on your hands than usual and have no idea what to do with it, trust me, you’re not alone. Creative hobbies can be a great way to kill time, build up new skills, or just finally knit the scarf you always talked about making.
For me, my creative hobbies are how I deal with my stress. When I feel extra raw or just stressed from the workday, I like to turn to a creative hobby. You might even find yourself turning to something that you haven’t done in a while. This should be a stress-free activity that you have an actual interest in.
Need some ideas on embracing a new creative hobby? Here are 7 that you may want to try this fall.
Baking
Possibly one of the yummiest and easiest hobbies to pick up. If you can read, then you can definitely bake. Chances are, you already have almost everything you need in your pantry to embrace this hobby. Plus, everyone likes baked goods!
Collage Art
It’s time to finally use up those magazines that have been sitting around your house. Collage art is a great way to express yourself, especially if you don’t exactly consider yourself an ‘artist’ type. All you need if paper and glue. Use an old notebook or sketchbook and start a collage of different things that inspire you.
Journaling
Journaling is a great way to let go of heavy parts of your day. At the end of the day, I like to scribble anything that’s troubling me, or even just little wins from the day. Journaling can be a great release, or simply just a good way of memory keeping as well
Fiber Art
This includes anything using fibers like yarn, thread, etc. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wanted to knit my own scarf. You can buy all of your materials at your local craft store. This is a great way to lose yourself in a hobby. Why not use this hobby to make things for friends afar, or even for yourself?
Performing Arts
Maybe you’re not exactly a musician, but you can always dabble and teach yourself to play an instrument that you’ve always loved. Or use this time to reignite your love for music, dancing, acting, etc.
Painting
There are plenty of YouTube tutorials out there that can help you have your own paint and wine night at home. You do not need to be super talented to do this, it’s all about releasing your self on the canvas. Plus, thanks to modern technology you can easily color/paint right from your tablet or phone, and make it just as aesthetically pleasing.
Physical Activities
That’s right, start running, or finally put your local pool to use. Turn to single-person sports or activities to help you stay physically active. Think swimming, running, yoga, etc. You can do this alone, or with your partner as well.
