An Interior Designer’s Monochromatic Modern Farmhouse

Interior design has been a passion of Audrey Crisp since she was young. In fact, she admits that she was always intrigued by beautiful homes, which helped lead her to her path as an interior designer. Throughout the years, she’s helped many people get the home they dream of through her e-design business, so it should come as no surprise that her own home is stunning. We love everything about this space, especially all of the adorable kid-friendly rooms. Find out more about Audrey and her beautiful California home below. Plus, we’ve provided links to many items found in her home, so get ready to fill up your virtual carts.

How would you describe your home’s style?

My style is a mix of mid-century modern, boho and modern farmhouse.

What is a favorite element in your home?

My favorite element in my home is the engineered hardwood floors throughout.

What’s your favorite place in your home?

My favorite place in my home is my living room because it’s so cozy!

What are some of your go-to home décor resources?

My favorite places to shop are Target and HomeGoods because they are affordable and you don’t have to wait for things to ship!

How did you get started with your career in interiors?

I have always loved interior design! When I was a kid, I would go with my mom to the Parade of Homes and was so intrigued by all the beautiful homes. A couple of years ago, I started my Instagram page and the rest is history! Just running my Instagram account takes up a lot of time and I do e-designs every once in a while. Being a mom is my first priority though!

If you could change anything about your home, what would it be?

I would change the staircase placement so that it was open, and add a fireplace!

How did you find your home? What was the most challenging part of searching for a home?

We had looked all over and I was searching online for new home areas and came across this one. I saw that they were having an event for all the new neighborhoods that were about to be built and so we decided to check it out. The most challenging part was trying to find a house in our budget that had everything we BOTH wanted! My husband really wanted a big yard and that was a deal-breaker for him. I also had to decide if the interior or exterior was most important and what things I could let go of and what things were a must-have!

What made you choose to build a new home rather than purchase one already on the market?

We decided to build rather to renovate because our last home was a flip and while it looked great on the surface, deep down it was still an older home and issues kept coming up. I wanted to not have to worry about finding a contractor and having to keep track of everything. It was appealing to me to be in a brand-new home with a warranty and still be able to pick out all of the finishes, but not have to worry about getting them done. There’s just something appealing being in a brand-new home with no previous owners. We love that this area is all new and lots of people our age with kids around! We also couldn’t find any that were already done to my liking…

What do you love most about living in California?

What I love most about living in California is the weather and there are lots of fun things to do around here. It’s also a close trip to Utah to visit my family (where I’m from)!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I get my inspiration from Pinterest and all the amazing designers on Instagram!

How do you start your day?

I start my day by checking emails and responding to all the Instagram comments, and checking my messages on Instagram as well. That takes up a good 45 minutes in the mornings to get caught up.

What was the last thing you Googled?

Hmm…I Google stuff all the time, so that’s a hard question. Probably something design-related or one of the toys my kids requested for Christmas!

What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?

My biggest guilty pleasure is watching “The Bachelor” and eating ridiculous amounts of chocolate! I am a self-proclaimed “choco-holic” and must have some every day.
