Can you guys believe it’s time for Thanksgiving already? For the past 7 years, I’ve always thrown a big Friendsgiving dinner for all of our closest friends. This year, I decided to keep it more intimate with some of my best girlfriends, and with a little twist. We’ve been talking a lot about sustainability and making your home more eco-friendly, but I think that philosophy should apply to all areas, including party planning!
So this year, I decided to throw a party that focused on local, organic and sustainable products!
First, the décor!
Who knew you could make such a stunning arrangement out of dried florals and a few homegrown roses?
I have been an avid drinker of Boxed Water for several years, since making the switch from plastic bottles, so I always keep a full supply on hand for any event. This year, I wanted to have a little fun with our Boxed Waters, but more on that later!
It was so important to me to keep the theme of this Friendsgiving on point. My goal was to use as little plastic as possible when prepping. I hit the farmers’ market the morning before with my kid in his wagon and our baskets ready to go. I loaded up on fresh, organic fruits and veggies, and freshly made local bread and cheese. There’s something about buying ingredients directly from the source that just makes you feel better. To make one less trip, I had Boxed Water delivered directly to my door. So easy! I love that Boxed Water provides a sustainable option for one of life’s necessities…water. Especially at a gathering where everyone needs their own drink, it makes me feel better knowing we are doing our part to not contribute more plastic to the environment. Did you know that 1,500 plastic bottles are sent to landfills each second?! And it takes 700 years for plastic to break down, so every piece of plastic created still exists today. Every little change helps!
Now it’s time to toast and celebrate. Friendsgiving is all about gathering with the people that bring joy to your heart, and I love this crew of mine!
OK, so we have:
local, organic food ✔️
plenty of Boxed Water for thirsty guests ✔️
sustainable, eco-friendly décor ✔️
The only thing we’re missing? Party favors!
One of my favorite things to pick up at the farmers’ market are organic herb plants. I loved the idea of sending my guests home with a party favor, while also keeping with the theme. After we finished our Boxed Waters, we simply cut the top off to make a little planter!
How cute are those? I totally snagged that calendula for myself and it’s loving its new life on my kitchen windowsill. Boxed Water is 100 percent recyclable, so even if you run out of plants, you’re still helping reduce your carbon footprint. Boxed Water is made from mostly paper – a renewable resource (unlike oil-based plastic bottles). And so cute, to boot!
I always look forward to this time of year and hope I’ve inspired you to try your own eco-friendly twist this year! Boxed Water is offering an exclusive discount to Glitter Guide readers: Use the code GLITTER15 for 15 percent off a 24 pack of 8.5 ounce (fun-size, my favorite!) or 16.9 ounce products.
