My life has included a good amount of change lately. I won’t even get started on the fact that we’re staying home for the foreseeable future and not able to stick to our regular routines. In addition to these unprecedented times, my brother, who is one of my best friends, moved to Washington D.C., my little sister moved into her first apartment and two of my closest friends bought a house in North Carolina. Needless to say, I’m missing some very important parts of my heart. As a busy mom and with school out, our household is relying heavily on technology to help us stay connected with our loved ones. This is why I’m so happy to share my family’s experience with Portal from Facebook.
Isn’t it amazing how easy technology makes it for us to stay connected? I know my brother’s move was hard on everyone in the family, especially my mom, which makes me feel certain she’ll love getting a Portal for Mother’s Day. Fun features like Story Time allow grandma to animate children’s stories and AR masks allow her to play fun games daily.
If you’re trying to stay connected with friends and family, I highly recommend adding a Portal, or two, into your household. I have the world’s squirmiest toddler, so the Smart Camera alone makes Portal a must-have. I don’t know about you, but any time we video chat with people, all my son wants to do is run around and show them all his favorite toys. The Smart Camera is so cool because it keeps you in frame as you move around and zooms out to add into frame anyone new who may join the room! My toddler can run all around the living room, grab his treasures from the bedroom and be able to share with whomever may be on the call without me chasing after him to keep him in the frame; the camera stays with the action, so you never miss a moment. It makes hands-free video calling a breeze.
I love that Portal from Facebook also includes Alexa Built-in, Spotify and Pandora apps so we can use our Portal for spontaneous family dance parties during video calls. My husband is big on privacy, so he was fully on board when he saw that Portal has simple privacy controls and that we can cover the camera and turn off the microphone when we aren’t using it. Portal also has an amazing feature, which allows the device to act as a beautiful digital photo frame, when not in video calling mode.
If you’re looking for a way to stay connected with your loved ones this year, Portal is a wonderful option. And with Mother’s Day around the corner, I promise the moms and mother figures in your life will enjoy it just as much as our family does. Now through May 10, Portal devices start at $79.
