Top 5 Ways To Upgrade Your Shower Experience

You know those people who spend 45 minutes in the shower? We all know at least one person like this. Maybe it is a sibling or your roommate in college or it might even be a significant other. You’re always left standing outside the bathroom door thinking, “What could they possibly be doing in there?!”

Well, they might be having a grand old time in their very own at-home spa experience! It doesn’t take a fancy bath or a stunning steam room to create a relaxing atmosphere of beautification, although those things are nice, too. All you need is a shower and the right set of products to create an experience that’s certainly worth 45 minutes of your day. Our contributor, Kaleigh Glaza, is here with a few ways to upgrade your shower experience.

Get creative with scents

There’s nothing like that “fresh out of the shower” smell. A clean, soapy scent just sets your mood in the right direction. Experiment with different scents for your different moods or times of day. Maybe a coffee scrub is perfect for your morning shower, but you prefer setting a moody candle while you take part in your evening shower. The proper scent will set the mood for your whole experience, and it can come in everything from serums to scrubs to so much more.

Don’t forget your hair

This might seem like an obvious tip, but washing your hair can sometimes seem like the biggest chore of taking a shower. It takes the most “effort” out of your shower experience, and there are so many ways it can go wrong. You can dry your hair out, or be left with a weird greasy film, or end up with a tangled mess that’s hard to brush. Choosing the right products for your hair type, and the products that will benefit your hair long term involves some trial and error, but treating your hair beyond the standard shampoo/conditioner combo will seriously elevate your shower game. From first step pre-shampoos, to choosing a brush that will leave your locks extra shiny, hair is the base of your shower game.

Good things take time

If you’re spending 45 minutes in the shower, you better believe that there will be time-consuming processes as a part of that window. Whether it’s a scalp scrub or a face mask, certain products are not of the “put on and wash off” variety. Use this time to sing along to your favorite song, practice your next work presentation or just take a few minutes to meditate while the products get to work.

Keep it cool

Especially with summer weather coming quickly, using a cooling product in the shower, or right after, will help your skin combat heat and redness. Some cooling products (like the Blue Defense HydroGel below) also even protect your skin from the blue light of your screens! Keeping your skin hydrated and cool will have you leaving the bathroom feeling much more chill than when you entered.

Have that “just-showered” feeling all-day

So, you’ve taken your shower and are feeling squeaky clean and oh-so relaxed. But eventually, you have to leave the bathroom and enter the real world again. To help make your shower zen last as long as possible, finishing the experience with a great cream or face mist will prolong the relaxation. Treating yourself doesn’t have to stop just because the shower did!
