Let Loose: Why We Need Stay-At-Home Dance Parties, Plus A Playlist

“Hard times require furious dancing. Each of us is proof.”
Alice Walker, Hard Times Require Furious Dancing: New Poems

“Hard times require furious dancing.” This quote by author and activist, Alice Walker, speaks to the healing powers of dance. During these uncertain times of COVID-19, my family has been turning to dance more than ever. None of us have backgrounds in dance and we don’t have particularly great moves, but none of that matters. Our living room is our stage. We let loose, get silly and we let our inhibitions go.

Music and dance are some of our most powerful allies in uncertain times. When my family is starting to feel grumpy, we turn on music and get moving. I can’t recommend it enough.

I made a fun playlist of songs that my family likes to boogie to. You can listen to it on Spotify here.

I also have been loving Ryan Heffington’s Instagram Live dance sessions. They are so much fun!
