Give Your Morning Routine The Glow Up It Deserves

We’re big fans of healthy morning routines over here. We’ve talked about all the things you can do before work to start your day off right, how to boost your creativity in the morning and even our personal morning routines. But does your morning routine need a glow up? If you’re opening your eyes and not excited to get out of bed to start it, the answer is YES. Try some of these simple upgrades and you’ll be feeling like a morning person in no time. Warning: Some of this will require you to wake up earlier, but the end results are super worth it.

Breakfast in Bed

Now, I’ll be the first person to admit I don’t wake up and eat breakfast. I usually chow down a protein bar around 10:30 a.m. while typing away. But why should breakfast in bed be limited to days reserved for luxury like Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day? You don’t need to make a three-course breakfast every morning, but meal prepping some overnight oats is a great time saver that can also be enjoyed from the comfort of your bed. Grab your breakfast of choice or just a cup of coffee, and enjoy them in bed before diving into the day. You can turn on some light music if you like, but keep the screens turned off. Don’t reach for your phone or turn on the news while you enjoy your breakfast. Savor this quiet time and enjoy it peacefully.

Upgrade your caffeine

I know things like Keurigs are convenient, but they just don’t pack the same quality and punch as a beautiful French-pressed pot of coffee. You can actually also use a French press to froth milk, so if coffee isn’t your thing, you can still start your morning with a delicious tea latte. Same goes for your mugs. If you really want to give your morning routine a glow up, mismatched coffee mugs just won’t do. Sip your morning beverage of choice out of a beautiful, handmade mug that makes you feel like you’re at high tea.

Start with “spa water”

Whenever you go to the spa, the first thing they do is offer some lovely infused water, right? There are so many ways you can easily create your own at home these days. Start the day hydrated and refreshed with this simple upgrade and bask in the beautifying benefits.

Invest in a luxury robe

There’s something about slipping on a soft, lace-trimmed robe in the morning that instantly makes you feel like an old Hollywood movie star. Reserve this robe as something you only use for your mornings and you’ll be even more excited to scamper out of bed each morning.

Take a bath

If breakfast in bed isn’t your thing, how about coffee and a bath? We always correlate baths with end-of-the-day relaxation, but it can also be a lovely way to kick off your day. Instead of lavender and chamomile, opt for citrus and mint bath salts or bubble bath. You’re going to take a shower anyway (hopefully), so why not take it up a notch and indulge in a little morning pampering?

Lay out your entire outfit

And I mean the entire outfit! Accessories and shoes included. When you wake up, your motivation for getting dressed is less than stellar. We have a tendency to reach for the yoga pants whenever we wait until the last minute to choose our outfit before heading out the door. Before going to bed each night, check the weather app and your schedule for the following day and plan out a head-to-toe outfit that makes you feel confident and beautiful. Hang up the outfit, lay out the jewelry and handbag you want to wear and keep your shoes easily accessible. Not only does this save time in the morning, but it makes sure that you’re feeling your best when you head out the door.

Get bougie with your beauty routine

Once you create your dream vanity, your morning beauty routine becomes so much more enjoyable. But you can make some unexpected swaps in order to really tie your morning routine together. Invest in some big, fluffy makeup brushes that make you feel like Jean Harlow. Scour Etsy for vintage perfume bottles and spritz yourself in style before you walk out the door. Indulge in a quick face mask before applying your makeup. All of these things that feel like luxury self-care are actually quite simple and can change the entire tone of your day.
