Oh, the year 2000—what a time to be alive. Although, up until the clock struck midnight, we weren’t too sure if we’d make it…Y2K, anyone? Well, here we are 19 years later and everything that is old is new again. I honestly never thought I’d see some of these fashion trends again, but the middle schooler in me is pretty damn excited. Keep reading to see if any of your favorite 2000s trend is making a resurgence:
Platform Sandals
Call it a deep love for all things Spice Girls, but I almost broke my ankle more times than I can remember in these oversized-style platform sandals. Rocket Dogs, anyone? Still, these new variations make a killer vacation shoe!
Tea Dress
These little floral print dresses were a staple in my middle school closet. Kate Moss made them a fashion staple in the early 2000s, but brands like Christy Dawn and Reformation have brought these sweet frocks back with a new, modern vibe.
Oversized Hoops
Admittedly, this was never a trend I got into during my younger years. But maybe now that I’m in my 30s it’s time to give them a shot.
High-Neck Crop Tops
Were you even a pre-teen if you didn’t try to sneak out of the house wearing a “risqué” top like these? This silhouette lined the racks at stores like Charlotte Russe and Wet Seal (RIP), but now luckily, Urban Outfitters and other brands are here to pick up the slack.
Choker Necklaces
Specifically, tattoo choker necklaces. So cool, yet so uncomfortable. Maybe these new versions won’t leave a fancy imprint on your neck after you take it off.
Jelly Shoes
OK, so technically this one is more late ’90s than 2000s, but I’m still so excited nonetheless.
Nameplate Jewelry
Carrie popularized the trend back in the “SATC” days, but now we’re seeing them back in stores again. Just don’t lose yours in Paris.
Asymmetrical Skirts
Oh yes, these skirts. Handkerchief, asymmetrical, whatever you want to call it they were all the rage. Anyone else pair theirs with either only a spaghetti strap cami or a oversized peasant blouse?
Hair Clips
Oh, how I wish I had a picture of myself my first day of 6th grade. I had butterfly clips galore in neat little rows. Kelly clips, claw clips, barrettes, it’s all back and it’s all so good.
