Now that you’re familiar with what Flashes of Delight means and how you can encourage more of these moments into your day, let’s make it into a fun challenge.
For the next 30 days, we want you to take notice of as many delights as you can. The goal is to become more attuned to things that give you pleasure and intrigue you, which will hopefully lead to a boost in your creativity.
Here’s how it works:
Start a “Flashes of Delight” Journal
For the next month, carry a notebook around everywhere (even if it’s only inside your house). Make an effort to write down anything that makes you pause or gives you a blissful feeling. Recognizing your delights may take some practice if you’re not used to noticing what you’re noticing. If you need some prompts for this, check out the book, The Art of Noticing by Rob Walker. I’ve also shared some easy tips for you in my post, How To Experience More Flashes of Delight. If lugging your notebook around with you is discouraging, try using the “Notes” section on your phone.
Create a Photo Diary
Another option is to create a visual diary of your delights. Any time something sparks joy in you, take a picture or video of it (bonus points for drawing it!). Then create a collage of all your delightful moments.
*You can also do both of these options for an even more immersive experience.
At the end of the month, reflect on what you found. Is there a theme? Did you struggle or did you enjoy this? What have you learned from this challenge? Share your finds with us at @GlitterGuide #FlashesofDelightChallenge on Instagram.
