A Strong Case For Dressing Younger Than You Are

I’ve never believed in dressing my age. Personal style for me is about a mood; sometimes I want to be a cozy grandma, other times I want to look like an off-duty model. As someone who once studied fashion design, there is only one rule in fashion: there aren’t really any rules.

You should dress how you feel your best and most comfortable; that can mean many different things to people. For me, I love dressing “younger.” I can’t even count how many times I’ve jumped into the kids clothing section of a department store and whined about them not making the same piece in my size. Fashion has no age limits for these reasons!

Bright Colors

I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed this before, but it feels like the clothing stores geared toward the ‘younger’ crowd have much more fun and creativity with their color palettes and patterns. There are so many different ways to play with colors and patterns.

Playful Designs

Why bother getting dressed in the morning if you aren’t going to have fun with your clothes? Great style is all about the details, after all.

Confetti Itty Bitty Tote

This darling tote from Talking Out of Turn is the perfect blend of whimsy and practicality and we’re obsessed.

Staying on Trend

Even when it comes to teen magazines, they are run by very grown adults who are dictating the latest trends. Looking to upgrade some classic styles with new trendy details? Not a problem. Trends have no age limit either.

Comfy Shoes

One of my favorite accessories to shop for are shoes because there is so much wear and styling that you can get out of just one pair. Right now, it’s all about the classic sneaker.

Elevated Athleisure

Loungewear and athleisure have come a long way. It’s all about taking one basic piece and completely transforming it into your personal style. Basic biker shorts are no longer a middle school staple, but now a trendy essential.
