Your Ultimate Guide To The Best Fall Jackets

The unofficial end of summer is right around the corner, which means we will soon be swapping out our summer shorts, tanks and sandals for jeans, sweaters and boots. One of our favorite pieces to add to our fall outfits is a lightweight jacket because, let’s face it, it can be quite chilly in the mornings and evenings. So, to keep you warm without sacrificing style as the temperatures get cooler, be sure to stock up on a few fall jackets. Because there are so many stylish jacket options available today, we thought we’d break them down for you and provide you with some of our favorites in each style.

Denim Jacket: Denim jackets are pretty much a three-season classic. But there’s something so nostalgic about a jean jacket when it comes to back-to-school style. It’s a layering piece that is timeless and chic!

Utility Jacket: A durable jacket that’s perfect for all the fun fall activities you have planned—apple picking, fall foliage hunting, watching the local football team with some hot apple cider. OK, can you tell we are really excited for fall?

Driving Jacket/ Smoking Jacket: We’re huge fans of this light-to-medium weight jacket that pretty much makes anything you are wearing look chic and put-together, while still providing some warmth and protection from the elements. Our personal favorites are a little less structured and a little bit more drapey—very Parisian-chic.

Leather Moto: If you are looking to add a little bit of edge to your outfits, definitely make sure to have a leather (or faux leather) jacket on hand. We love all the different options out in shops including different colors, cuts and, of course, different hardware. If you are a leather jacket “newbie,” we’d stick to a classic style in black or brown with minimal zippers, buckles, etc.

The Bomber: Bomber jackets had a big moment last year, but truth be told, we’ve always been fans—especially for fall. While they feel very collegiate to us, we love how many different style, fabrics, prints and colors they come in—there’s something for everyone.

Faux Suede Jacket: Suede is definitely known for being a trickier fabric when it comes to care and upkeep, but with the right weather-proofing, it’s such a beautiful and luxe-looking jacket. It will add instant style to any outfit. Oh, and warmth—that’s what jackets are for, right?
