How This Beauty Brand Is Working To Eliminate Cancer + End Domestic Violence

Mary Kay

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending my first Darling Long Table Event in Los Angeles at the amazing Hedley & Bennett space (if you want an inspiring Podcast to listen to, check out Ellen Bennett’s on Second Life). I was thrilled at the chance to finally meet Sarah Dubbeldam of Darling magazine. We’ve been following and supporting each other’s work for years. I think that she’s revolutionized print media and is amazing at showcasing women’s voices. I was also very excited the event was in partnership with Mary Kay. The work that The Mary Kay Foundation is doing to eliminate cancer and domestic violence is very inspiring.

The dinner was in honor of the Limited-Edition Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara, which is not only an incredible product, but also gives back. From now until December 31, Mary Kay will be donating $1 from each sale of the Limited-Edition Mary Kay Lash Love Mascara to The Mary Kay Foundation, which supports women’s shelters and survivors of abuse.

How cute is the branding? I love it!

Sarah and I led the conversations of the night. Everyone was asked to think about what they consider beautiful, what has influenced their standard of beauty, how to cultivate their idea of what makes someone beautiful in the world, etc. It was incredible to sit with women I had just met and open up about things that we felt about ourselves and the world. It was truly special to get to know them so deeply in that short amount of time. We also spoke about our experiences with cancer and domestic abuse, and how great it is that The Mary Kay Foundation is helping women in need.

Thank you so much Mary Kay and Darling for having us be a part of this amazing event.

Luis did my makeup before the event and I was so pleased. He made my makeup look effortless. My favorite features of the look were my bronze smokey eye, the Mary Kay Gel Semi-Shine Lipstick in Love Me Pink and the NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss that he used on me.
