Hello, my fellow introverts! You’ve made it through all of the holiday social events except one. The last, and probably most daunting holiday event, is undoubtedly New Year’s Eve. But rather than staying home alone and Door Dashing sushi (although that sounds awesome), find a way to celebrate that feels comfortable. You’ll feel much better about ringing in the new year with someone by your side, even if it’s just one person. Here are some ideas for how to spend NYE as an introvert.
A spa night
Grab your best introverted gal pal and make it a night of pampering. Face masks, deep conditioning treatments, pedicures, the works. Bonus, you’ll wake up feeling fresh as a daisy in 2019.
Have a dinner party
Don’t freak out. When I say dinner party, I mean like 2-4 people, max. There are many others out there who don’t enjoy the hustle and bustle of NYE parties, but still want to celebrate with loved ones. Give it a theme, have everyone bring a dish and enjoy a quiet night at home by candlelight.
Go on a weekend trip
FOMO via social media is one of the biggest bummers for introverts on New Year’s Eve. But if you plan a little getaway specifically over the holiday, you’ll be filled with JOMO (joy of missing out) and will come back to the new year feeling rejuvenated.
Have a binge-watching marathon
Invite a friend or two over for a rom-com night. Or binge-watch a new true crime series on Netflix. Whatever your cup of tea is, just make sure to have plenty of popcorn and wine on hand. And don’t forget to pause the movie at midnight!
Go to the movies
I’ve spent a couple New Year’s Eves in a movie theater, and it’s great. Pick a flick you’ve been wanting to see and hit up the late-night showing. Grab all the snacks your heart desires and settle in for a quiet night, while still out and about.
