We’re kicking off a new series called “Very Important Questions” with some of the coolest women we know. When thinking of who I wanted to interview for the very first feature, I immediately thought of Renata Stone. She’s one of my favorite people on the planet, ridiculously smart and cracks me up daily. Not to mention she creates the most beautiful fiber art, is an incredible photographer AND works in computer programming. She does it all. Keep reading to learn more about Renata through some rapid-fire style Q’s we asked her just for fun.

1.What do people call you?

A smart, strong, sensual woman.

2. Where do you call home?

Salt Lake City, UT

3. How do you make that money, honey?

Fiber art, photography and computer programming. The big three.

4. Describe yourself in 4 words.

Does ‘national treasure’ count as one or two words? 😂 But for reals, if it had to be 4 words…
Good enough.
Smart enough.

5. Wake up ritual?

20 minutes of morning Tetris, cardio and eggs over easy. Repeat.

6. Coffee or tea?

ALWAYS COFFEE. Sometimes 3.

7. Secret Talent?

Writing the funny captions for my cat’s Instagram account. She is sassy and sarcastic and everything I want to be. (Even our pets have social media accounts. What a world.)

8. What random stranger has had the biggest impact on your life?

I’m having a hard time with this one because once you meet them, they’re not a stranger anymore.

9. What word do you always misspell?

Filigree. And I don’t even know what filigree is. No one really knows what it is.

10. Who is your style icon?

If Steve Jobs and the cast of “Westworld” had a baby…

11. Favorite time of day?

Midnight. I do all my most creative thinking when everyone else is sleeping.

12. What’s the silliest thing you’re nostalgic for?

It’s a three-way tie between my favorite childhood toys. I miss Glo Worms, Popples and Rainbow Brite. Equally.

13. Whose advice do you always listen to?

Hands down, it’s Jess, my husband. He’s 25-percent smarter than me and knows me better than I know myself.

14. Last thing you bought?

A 9 p.m. glass of cab from my sad hotel bar in Phoenix.

16. Who is someone you think is going to change the world?

Any of us can change the world—whether it’s locally or globally, all of us matter.

17. SLC or San Diego?

I know this will be wildly unpopular, but SLC FOREVER. Please don’t abandon me.

18. Last book you read?

The Alchemist—embarrassingly like 10 years ago. My husband made me read it and I loved it.

19. What’s at the top of your bucket list?

It used to be things like skydiving, summiting mountains and swimming with sharks, but then I realized my husband was using that bucket list as my actual birthday presents…so I changed it to stuff like luxury overseas travel and “not doing the dishes for three weeks.”

20. What’s one ingredient you put in everything?

Charisma.

Is Asian cowboy a style or more like a state-of-mind?

These aren’t necessarily my favorite accounts but they’re the artist accounts that inspire me a lot…

23. What would you like to be remembered for?

My cat’s Instagram captions.

24. What are you most excited about at this time in your life?

Honestly, our upcoming adoption. We are adopting a baby girl from China and I’m as excited as I am terrified. After 11 years with Jess, we’re finally ready to level up. Wish us luck!
