I remember very clearly walking down the aisle as a newly married bride, hand-in-hand with my new husband, when his aunt looked me in the eye and asked when we were going to have a baby. Seriously? Lady, I’m still carrying my bouquet. Six months later, we were indeed expecting and before I had even given birth, people were asking when this (unborn) baby would have a sibling. There are lot of questions you can ask women that have nothing to do with her reproductive system, but society as a whole tends to default to these questions as a form of small talk. Women are so much more complex than that. Not to mention, asking these questions can unknowingly invoke pain and heartbreak. You never know what is going on with a woman, whether she’s try to conceive or not, so let’s drop the reproductive questions. There are so many other beautiful questions we can ask women.
